The Confession and Forgiveness of Sin
Here is a study which can bring great liberty and renewed joy and power in the life of any believer … it’s a study of David’s confession and forgiveness after his horrible double sins of adultery and murder.
Psalm 32 is a psalm of instruction. It teaches us much about confession of sin, and what it is. It teaches us much about what it means to be forgiven of sin. It teaches us much about the results of forgiveness of sin in our lives … the benefits of it. It teaches us about the guidance and instruction of the Lord in our lives, and establishes a principle for us that the man whose transgression is forgiven is blessed.
Blessed is the man whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
This whole idea of confession of sin and forgiveness is something that is very important for believers to learn. It’s very important to learn the value of the confession of sin. It’s very important to value the idea of regularly coming to the Lord with those things that we have done, those things that we have not done (in some cases), and to receive the kind of forgiveness and deliverance and relief from the guilt and the burden of sin that only the Lord can provide. And only He can provide it! Since He is the one offended and disobeyed when we sin, He is the only one that can pardon and release us. It’s no use trying to forgive ourselves, the real need is for Divine forgiveness. It’s only as we realize and embrace Divine forgiveness that we are free.
We all stumble in many ways, so we all need this process in our lives.
I invite you to listen in. Grab your Bible, find a quiet place, and spend an hour soaking in the truths of God’s Word.
May He bless you as you do.
